Rodney Calvert passed away on November 22nd, 2007. He was a friend and colleague to many in the Geophysics community. Rodney's impressive technical career has had a major scientific impact in geophysics. This technical session at the SEG meeting will highlight some of the many topics which were dear to Rodney, and which he influenced so profoundly. Rodney effortlessly intertwined his interests in many areas of science, a very successful and diverse career, and a passion for nature and outdoor activities. While focused on the scientific components, this session will also reflect on the many aspects that made Rodney the person who will be missed so dearly. Highlights in the session will include presentations on Time-lapse seismic (4D), the Virtual Source Method, and possibly a short-note on how to wear a bright purple one-piece snowsuit while skiing in the back-country, and still look good. Contributions are also encouraged from Rodney's other areas of interest such as the demultiple problem, imaging and inversion. If there are a sufficient number of additional abstracts submitted to this session a corresponding poster session might be organized. For further information, please contact the organizers: Kasper van Wijk (kaspervanwijk@boisestate.edu, Boise State University), Alex Calvert (Ion Geophysical), Albena Mateeva (Shell), Roel Snieder (Colorado School of Mines), and Matt Haney (USGS).
